September Meeting: Building Cultural Competencies within your Organization

Culturally intelligent leaders are inclusive, curious, and challenge the status quo. Their teams work and relate effectively across various cultural contexts, including nationality, ethnicity, gender, generations, and cognitive diversity. We can create an open dialogue of empathy and positivity by celebrating our differences! Workshop participants will develop the critical skill of cultural intelligence using the CIE Assessment framework. This workshop draws upon research-based findings to provide strategies for disrupting bias in organizations. The workshop is designed to help individuals strengthen their awareness and understanding about diversity and inclusion through the lens of cultural intelligence, as well as, enable them to have the ability to work more effectively with people who are different from themselves.

Leadership has been a chief lever in succeeding during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizations strove based upon effective leadership even more than people management. But as HR leaders, how do we know when leaders are making the subtle mistakes resulting in quiet quitting, resignations, and disengagement. Data from SHRM research indicates the persistence of seven deadly sins, which were amplified during the pandemic. Dr. Alex Alonso, SHRM's chief knowledge officer and renowned workplace columnist, will provide insights into these deadly sins and how managers can overcome them. Moreover, he will help HR leaders identify these behaviors with the aim of remediating them.
