Session Description:
2025 was a year of dramatic changes in employment law. Eastman & Smith attorneys Jim Yates and Jade Robinson will discuss significant court decisions impacting employer reverse discrimination claims and FLSA exemptions. Additionally, agency initiatives resulted in: 1) increased scrutiny of Company DEI programs; 2) changes to independent contractor determinations; and 3) the reversal of many agency rules of the prior administration. With many federal agencies still in transition, states have taken a more active role with respect to issues such as paid leave, non-compete restrictions, use of AI in the workplace, and legalization of recreational marijuana. Jim and Jade will discuss these changes and how human resource professionals can proactively address the impact of their workforces in 2026.
